Malcolm X Peace & Justice Lecture Series 

With Imam Sarraj Wahaj

To promote the intellectual tradition of African-American, African and Islamic authors and activists as they relate to contemporary issues of justice and peace. To associate the intellectual traditions of African-American, African and Islamic authors and activists into academic coursework. To advocate student initiative and academic programs that address issues of injustices

The fourth annual Malcolm X Justice and Peace Lecture Series will take place at Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) on April 20, 2016. The lecture series exists to promote the intellectual traditions of African-American, African and Islamic authors and activists as they relate to contemporary issues of justice and peace. Past keynote speakers have included Prof. Farid Esack and Sohail Daulatzai.

This year, we are honored to have Imam Siraj Wahhaj as our keynote speaker. Siraj Wahhaj is the Imam at Masjid At Taqwa in Brooklyn, New York, and a well-known speaker, activist and community organizer.

Events throughout the day include film showings, panel discussions, a luncheon with Imam Siraj Wahhaj, an interactive Jihad event and an evening public lecture and dinner with Imam Siraj Wahhaj. Please check the event flier for times and locations.

All events are free and open to the public. Cash donations and non-perishable food items will be collected at all events for the Students Against Hunger and Homelessness food shelf.

The lecture series is co-sponsored by the Muslim Student Association, Philosophy Club, PRIDE, Office of Diversity, Student Life, MCTC Foundation, Philosophy Department and the African American Education Empowerment Program.
